Church of the Living Sun

Humans have worshipped our Sun as our true god long before any organized religions came about.
We here at the Church of the Living Sun continue to worship our living Sun even more today.

"Our Sun gives us light, heat and energy. It may seem that energy comes from other sources such as gasoline and electricity but the ultimate source of energy for the Earth is nothing else but the sun. Without the sun life on Earth would not exist. It would be so cold that no living thing would be able to survive and our planet would be completely frozen." source - NASA

"Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It is really probably the poetic thing I know about physics: You are all stardust." - Lawrence Krauss A University from Nothing, 2012

"The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff." - Carl Sagan

"All great truths begin as blasphemies." - George Bernard Shaw

Hubble has shown us that there are more than 10 times as many stars-suns than there are grains of sand here on all of the beaches of our planet Earth. We worship our own sun as our God.

"God is an hypothesis, and, as such, stands in need of proof:
the onus probandi [burden of proof] rests on the theist." - Percy Bysshe Shelley

"It is possible that mankind is on the threshold of a golden age; but, if so, it will be necessary first to slay the dragon that guards the door, and this dragon is religion." - Bertrand Russell

"We do not believe in gods, angels, demons, ghosts, a sentient universe, psychic power, divination, mystical forces, or practices that emanate from belief mystical forces such as chi, astrology, or feng shui, or using prayer, crystals, or magnets as a method of disease prevention." - The Clergy Project

2019 Worldwide we had approximately 7,700,000,000 people on our planet. The approximate distribution of religions was Christian 30%, Muslim 23%, Hindu 14%, Buddhist 7%, other religions 13%, non-religious 10%, atheists 3%. In the U.S. approximately 25% of Americans and in Europe over 50% are now unaffiliated.

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then wence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?
- Epicurus (341-270 BC)

"I do not pretend to know what ignorant men are sure of." - Clarence Darrow

"We achieve through insight a greater life." - Robert M. Unger

Where does our observable universe really end? Is there an end to space or does it go on forever?

"There are in fact 100 billion galaxies, each of which contains something like a 100 billion stars." - Carl Sagan

"I'd put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power!" - Thomas Edison

"An atheist is a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods." - The Oxford English Dictionary

"Noun: Late 16th century: from French athéisme, from Greek atheos, from a- ‘without’ + theos ‘god’." - The Oxford English Dictionary

"Atheism is, in the broadest sense, the absence of belief in the existence of deities. Less broadly, atheism is the rejection of belief that any deities exist. In an even narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities. Atheism is contrasted with theism, which, in its most general form, is the belief that at least one deity exists." - per Wikipedia

We find these two paragraphs to be offensive:

"If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, even their own life, such a person cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26 (New International Version)

"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:26 (King James Version):

Let's love each other and no longer believe in these two disgusting paragraphs. Praise to our Sun!
